Human Rights Film Festival
A variety of films highlighting human rights struggles will be showcased at various locations around Bellingham, including Whatcom Community College and the Pickford Film Center, from Feb. 21 to March 2. Free legal advice will be provided by Whatcom LAW Advocates, a local organization, and the paralegal club in the foyer of Heiner Hall on Feb. 13 & 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Handicapped parking tickets
Whatcom’s campus security is warning students, staff and faculty to avoid parking in handicapped zones. Only vehicles with a valid handicapped placard may park in these zones. Violators may be fined up to $250.
Eric Davis will give present a lecture about using hip-hop music as a catalyst for discussion and debate on important social issues. The event will take place from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. wed. Feb. 27 in Heiner Theater.
Author visits Whatcom
David Guterson, author of “Snow Falling on Cedars” will visit Whatcom on Wed. Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Syre auditorium. Admission is free.
Women’s Awareness movie night
The film “Pitch Perfect” will be shown in Heiner Theater on Fri. March 1 at 6 p.m. Concessions and popcorn will be provided. Admission is $1 for community members, free for students.
