Men’s basketball

The Whatcom men’s basketball team is off to a 4-2 start in league play following their most recent game, a 77-68 win over Bellevue Community College on Jan. 22. Currently tied for third in the NWAACC’s North Region standings, the Orcas will play their next game Jan. 26 at home against Skagit Valley. The game starts at 7 p.m.

Women’s basketball

The Whatcom women’s basketball team is tied for second in the NWAACC North Region standings with a 5-1 record in league play. Looking to extend their winning streak to six straight games, the team lost their most recent game, 66-64, against Bellevue on Jan. 22.

They’ll look for another win, this time against Skagit Valley, on Jan. 26. The game, held at Whatcom’s Pavilion Gym, starts at 5 p.m.

-Editor’s note: Local radio station AM 1170 KPUG will be broadcasting the men’s game live on the radio. This is the first time in 15 years Whatcom has had the opportunity to have one of the basketball games broadcast. For those who do attend the games, burritos, chips, and a drink will be offered as part of “Fan Appreciation Night.”
