Orca Athletics Update 10/17-10/21

Men’s soccer traveled to face the Skagit Valley Cardinals and came away with a 2-1 win behind another stellar performance for Flavio Espinoza. He has five consecutive games with at least one goal and has scored two goals in a game six times so far this season.

This latest victory brings themes to 10-2-3 overall and 9-1-3 in conference play. Their game Monday, Oct. 17 was canceled due to wildfire smoke and has been rescheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20.

Women’s soccer also traveled to face the Skagit Valley Cardinals Monday, Oct. 17. It would end up being a hard-fought game all the way through, ending with Skagit Valley on top, scoring a goal in the 83rd minute to go ahead 2-1. That brings Whatcom’s overall record to 2-7-2, and 2-4-2 in conference play. They hit the field again traveling to face the Everett Trojans Sunday, Oct. 23.

Both Men and Women’s cross-country teams ran in the Lewis & Clarke Invite in Portland, with impressive showings by Ahmed Wariyo who took fifth for NWAC Men and Izabelle Anderson who finished second among NWAC Women.
