Shutdown: a view of Bellingham’s parks during the COVID-19 pandemic

Throughout the past couple of weeks, parks and other public places have closed due to the stay at home orders. Others stay partially open, while also attempting to limit the number of people that are visiting them by blocking parking spaces. To take a closer look, I put on a mask and headed to a few parks.

From playgrounds to tennis courts, many different public grounds are covered in caution tape and signs warning people of the closure due to concerns of potential contamination.

Some of the parks were empty, others were surprisingly busy. Shown in the last photo, Whatcom Falls Park had an almost completely full parking lot.
