People interested in officiating girls basketball games are invited to attend a meeting Sunday, Oct. 16 in Mount Vernon.
The Northwest Board of Women’s Basketball Officials is seeking members to referee high school and middle school basketball games. The NWB provides officials for games in Whatcom, Skagit, Island and San Juan counties.
“There are plenty of opportunities for adults and college students to enhance the quality of girls basketball and supplement their income,” said Ron Van Soest, NWB president. “We provide training and mentoring for all new officials.”
Training classes for new and returning members start at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 at LaVenture Middle School, 1200 LaVenture Road, Mount Vernon. The season begins in early December. For more information, call (360) 734-2807, e-mail soundmarine@comcast.net or visit www.NorthwestBoard.com.
The Programming and Diversity Board will also be looking for students to fill paid positions as referees for our intramural league programs. We will have volleyball during Winter quarter, and basketball during Spring.
