Courage to Change Workshop

Registration is now open for a free self-esteem and effective communication workshop. The event will be held on April 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and April 9 and 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Kelly 09. Participants will learn practical strategies to renew feelings of self-worth and improve communication. Pre-registration is required.

 

New Vice President for Administrative Services

Nate Langstraat will now serve as the new vice president for administrative services. The position is involved in campus planning as well as financial record-keeping and reporting.

 

Kumquat Poetry Challenge

In celebration of National Poetry Month (April), the library will be hosting the seventh annual Kumquat Poetry Challenge. Poetry submitted by Whatcom staff and students must contain 10 specific words chosen by library staff. Entries must be submitted to wccpoet@gmail.com on April 28 by 11:59 p.m.

 

Recycling and Landfill Containers

Psychology professor Bob Riesenberg and the Sustainability Committee request that students be mindful of not putting foil and plastic in the compost containers. Landfill containers are only for those items that are not compostable or recyclable.

 

Car Prowls

Whatcom Community College has recently experienced four car prowls since March 3. They occurred in the middle of the day in busy parking areas south of Laidlaw and the Pavilion. Witnesses of any unusual or suspicious activity in the parking areas should contact the Facilities and Operations Office or Administrative Services Office. Witnesses who see a car prowl in progress should call 911 immediately.
