Whatcom Community College (WCC) recently welcomed students for its annual Club and Organization Fair in the Syre Foyer, giving newcomers and returning students opportunities to meet and join campus activities and clubs.
The event ran from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on October 15 and featured booths with interactive games, trivia challenges and a live airbrush apparel artist creating custom T-shirts for attendees.
The Associated Students of Whatcom Community College (ASWCC) aimed to revive campus life and help students find groups to match their interests. Organizers said the Club Fair encourages participation and leadership, fostering community that extends beyond the classroom.
Ellen Eberhardt, former Vice President for Clubs and Unions, said the fair was about more than recruitment.
“We wanted every student to feel there’s a place for them,” said Eberhardt. “Our team encouraged students to participate and even start new clubs.”
Several students showed interest in starting new groups, including a Gaming Guild and a Cultural Exchange Club.

The Club Fair also included a welcome barbecue, which provided free food and helped students connect. Upcoming events include open mic nights and themed weeks focused on mental health and finals preparation.
Eberhardt emphasized that club leaders are excited to welcome newcomers: “Don’t be afraid to approach a club leader.”
Whether interested in academic enrichment, cultural experiences or making new friends, the Club Fair marks the start of a season of opportunity and involvement at WCC. Students who missed the fair can visit the Student Life office or check the ASWCC’s social media for club lists and event updates.
