DESCRIPTION:Whatcom Community College’s journal Noisy Water Review has returned for the first time since 2015\, and is accepting student work for its 2023 print and digital publication from now until May 15\, 2023.  \nThe Noisy Water Review accepts a diverse range of student work: \n·         Academic Writing from all disciplines—essays\, articles\, research papers … \n·         Visual Art—photography\, paintings\, sketches\, sculptures (photographs)\, graphic works… \n·         Creative Writing—poetry\, short stories\, creative nonfiction\, short plays… \n·         Music—pieces composed for a class\, spoken word\, band recordings… \nStudents and alumni can submit their work to noisywater@whatcom.edu. Please include your name\, the title of the work\, and if applicable\, the name of the instructor and the class within which you produced the piece.

DESCRIPTION:Whatcom Community College will be holding a public hearing on Wednesday\, April 26 at 3pm in Laidlaw 143 to gather comments on proposed changes to the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) to update and clarify rules pertaining to the following: Student Rights and Responsibilities WAC 132U-126-005 Statement of Jurisdiction\, 132U-126-010 Definitions\, 132U-126-030 Prohibited Student Conduct\, WAC 132U-126-040 Sanctions\, and WAC 132U-122-010 pertaining to Withholding Services for Outstanding Debts. Proposed changes to these WACs assure continued hazing policies best practices\, new state legislation anti-hazing compliance\, conformity\, and updated student rights and responsibilities\, definitions\, jurisdiction\, and procedures. Proposed changes also ensure compliance with state legislation to avoid withholding transcripts due to unpaid debt. Full text of these WAC documents and the proposed changes may be found on the college website\, www.whatcom.edu.
