Whatcom dancers en pointe

Whatcom Running Start students, Delci Syvertson and Henry Winslow, were featured in The Portland Ballet Spring Concert recently.
Syvertson and Winslow are both from Bellingham. Syvertson began dancing at age 4 and Winslow began dancing at age 10.
The choreography pieces for the evening were a tribute to the Ballets Russes who performed in Portland 100 years ago, according to the program. Continue reading Whatcom dancers en pointe

Whatcom offers homes away from home

To keep up with the increasing need for affordable living close to campus, Whatcom has subleased units within three different apartment complexes, Belleau Woods, Cascade Meadows, and The Village at Baker Creek, creating a total of 157 beds available.
Chelsea Smiley, who works in the Residence Life office, said the major selling point for Whatcom student housing is its affordability.
Smiley and Joseph Santos, resident advisors at the Belleau Woods complex, split some of the responsibilities while the search for a new Associate Director of Residence Life was ongoing.

Whatcom offers career advice for students

Advising and Career Services is a resource Whatcom Community College offers for students.
Ana Nicolas-Perez is one Whatcom student who has benefitted from Advising and Career Services.
“Whatcom has helped me so much, I feel more prepared. I wish I had gone to a community college first,” Nicolas-Perez said.
