Masquerade dance is a ball

Whatcom Community College students attended the Masquerade ball at Whatcom Saturday, Jan. 28. Organized through Student Life as, “an event for students to have fun,” Ella Mathews said. “We actually hadn’t had a dance here in the last like 20 years.”
Pryada Kuankitpaisan said, “I’m most excited to meet new people,” as she put her mask on to go into the ball.
Students danced, ate cake, took pictures, played with the balloons and socialized. Most students had heard of the event through the flyers distributed across the campus. Other students shared they were most excited to dance and wear masks.
The event took place in Syre Auditorium. The venue was decorated with lights, balloons, and also included some refreshments. The DJ played a wide variety of 2000’s hits including Miley Cyrus, Opa Gangman Style, and Latin hits.
