Highland dance competition

 

Clan Heather Dancers are hosting a Scottish Highland dancing competition in the Syre Auditorium on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s the first Highland dancing competition held in Bellingham in more than 30 years.  Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for students and children.

 

The Spitfire Grill

 

Whatcom’s drama program will be presenting its first musical production in eight years from November 14 to 17 in the Heiner Theater. “The Spitfire Grill” is being directed by adjunct faculty member Shawn Fuller, with music by adjunct Carol Reed-Jones.  Show times are 7:30 p.m. Admission is $12 or $8 with a student I.D.

Halloween dance

 

Whatcom’s programming board is putting on a Halloween dance in the Syre Auditorium on Friday, Oct. 26 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a costume contest as well as music by DJ Barry Bear. Admission will be $1 for students and $2 for non-students. Non-students must be 16 or older to attend.

 

Cybersecurity camp

 

Applications are now available for Whatcom Community College’s second annual cybersecurity camp. Selected high school juniors and seniors will explore the growing field of information security through hands-on computer activities and a cyberdefense competition.  Six interactive sessions will be held at Whatcom from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, starting Jan. 5, 2013. There is a $60 registration fee. Students may apply at www.whatcom.ctc.edu/cybercenter.

 

Free help desk

 

The student-run computer help desk will be running on Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 9: 15 a.m. to 11: 15 a.m. and on Friday, Oct. 19 from 9: 15 a.m. to 2: 15 p.m. The IT Pros help desk is located outside Heiner 105. They specialize in virus removal, troubleshooting, and computer repairs.
