Faculty Excellence Awards

Students may nominate any instructor for the 2012 Faculty Excellence Awards. Support a teacher who makes a difference and goes the extra mile for their students and co-workers by obtaining a nomination form from any of the Division Coordinator offices, or the Human Resources/Payroll office in Laidlaw 235. Forms must be completed and submitted by 5 p.m. on May 22.

New services available to Whatcom students and staff

A fax/scanner is available in Heiner 104 for currently registered Whatcom students. Students must have set up their WCC network account, and faxing is currently limited to the U.S. and Canada.

Instructors may now reserve the workstation located in Heiner 104 for their students to use during class. The Student Access Lab has laptops and a big screen TV. It has VGA and HD cables that are available for student check out. The Student Access Lab is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

Learn and perform Chinese dance!

Dancers of all levels of experience are needed to learn a traditional Chinese dance. Those who learn it fluently will be invited to perform it on June 7th in Seattle at a celebration. Dance instructor Jianna Zhang of the Silk Road Dancers will teach students and staff on campus. There is no charge to learn the dance. This is a great opportunity! The initial meeting is 5 p.m. Wednesday May 9 in Heiner 209. Email if you are interested but cannot come to the meeting.

IT Pros presentation

The IT Pros team that took third in the Pacific Rim Cyber Defense Competition will be giving a presentation on their experiences at the tournament and providing tips on securing your computer. The presentation will be on May 9 in Syre 104 at 9 a.m., and everyone is welcome to attend.

Queer Awareness Week

Students may attend the screening of the Sundance award-winning film Pariah on May 9 in Syre 104 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The film has an R rating.

On May 10, in the Syre courtyard, there will be a candlelight vigil to honor the victims of hate crimes from 5 to 5: 30p.m.

May 11 will feature the return of the annual QSA Drag and Variety Show! Many talented performers will take the Syre Auditorium stage at 8 p.m. for fun – and fundraising. Proceeds benefit Bellingham Pride.
